Teja Tirunelveli

Tennis Player

I am a Division-1 tennis player at the University of Arizona and a professional tennis player for India. My family is from India; my mother is from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and my father is from Hyderabad, Telangana.

I play for the Indian flag in WTA professional tournaments. Last year, I played about 20 to 25 professional tournaments worldwide while training in Mallorca, Spain.

I was a finalist in doubles in four WTA tournaments and reached the semi-finals in singles in another WTA Tournament.

My current professional singles ranking is 1107, and my highest doubles ranking is 780. I am also a pre-law student holding a 4.0 GPA currently at the University of Arizona, speak fluent Tamil and can read, write, and talk in Sanskrit.

I hope to represent the state and the country in the future proudly.

From the time I started playing for the University of Arizona, I am limited to playing 10 to 15 professional WTA tournaments. My expenses for these tournaments include transportation, hotel, coaching, shoes, stringing, and food. For a year, the cost of playing these professional tournaments is around $50000 to $75000.

Any funding would greatly help to cover the cost of playing in these professional tournaments. The NCAA allows for players to receive such funding as NIL deals. Funding me through an NIL collective that has a section 501(c)(3) status can be tax exempt subject to the NCAA rules.

I can also accept your frequent flyer miles that can be used for travel to tournament locations.

Small and medium businesses such as food, clothing, sports medicine, and physical therapy can benefit by using a student athlete. I can promote your company’s brand by wearing your company logo, clothing etc., to give visibility to your brand all over world.

I have a big dream and a great vision for my future -  your support will be greatly appreciated.

Similarly, I understand that businesses needing student-athlete representation, such as food, clothes, and physical therapy, could get tax benefits as they may be “ordinary” and “necessary” expenses.

I hope you will consider this proposal favorably.
